The festival offers a unique culinary sampling experience of various barbecue types of meat and traditional sides, so you can indulge in your favorite flavors and discover new ones. Whether you prefer Eastern North Carolina vinegar or Western North Carolina tomato, you'll find something to satisfy your taste buds at this event.
But it's not just about the food. The Pinehurst Barbecue Festival is also a celebration of North Carolina's barbecue traditions, and you'll get to experience this firsthand through a range of events.
Start the weekend off right with the High On The Hog Gourmet Pitmaster Dinner on Friday, September 1 at the Pinehurst Fair Barn. Indulge in a decadent feast of mouth-watering barbecue dishes prepared by top chefs, while soaking in the atmosphere of this picturesque setting.
For those who want to learn the secrets of grilling and smoking meat, the "Q"-School Grilling Class at Pinehurst Brewing Co. on Saturday, September 2 is the perfect opportunity. Led by expert Pitmasters, this class will teach you the techniques and tips to create the perfect barbecue at home.
But it's not just about the food – there's also plenty of entertainment to keep the whole family entertained. On Saturday night, head to North & South Bar at The Manor for Bourbon & Bites, a fun event featuring the best local bourbon paired with delicious bites of barbecue. And don't miss the Music on Magnolia Concert, adjacent to Pinehurst Brewing Co. on Saturday night, featuring the Totally 80's Tribute Band, Kids In America.
The main event takes place on Sunday, September 3, with the Christopher Prieto Pitmaster Invitational in the Village of Pinehurst. Get ready to taste some of the best barbecue creations in the state, as expert Pitmasters compete for the title of champion. Early admission starts at 10:00 am, so make sure you get there early to beat the crowds.
Not only is the Pinehurst Barbecue Festival a celebration of North Carolina's rich barbecue traditions, it's also a chance to support a good cause. The festival is proud to feature Children of Fallen Heroes, who will be showcasing their STEM Robotics Program at the event.
