Donate- Estate Gifts - Wills, Trusts & Life Insurance

Bequests are donations that are made through a will or a living trust. You can name the Children of Fallen Heroes as a beneficiary in your will/estate for a specific amount or a percentage (see form below) or designate the foundation as a beneficiary of your life insurance policy. The Children of Fallen Heroes suggests consulting a legal professional before drafting a will.

The Children of Fallen Heroes must be named as the owner and beneficiary of the insurance policy for it to be tax-deductible.

The following are examples of sample bequest language:

"I bequeath $X.00 to the Children of Fallen Heroes directed towards the organization's area of greatest need."

"I bequeath X% of my estate to the Children of Fallen Heroes Programs."

REMEMBER: When donating to a charitable organization, refrain from providing or verifying personal information via e-mail, text message, or social media. Do not post, direct message, email, or provide over the phone any sensitive information to any organization or individual unless you have initiated the interaction via the contact information provided on the organization’s website.

Be wary of individuals representing themselves as members of any charitable organization asking for donations via social networking sites or personal email addresses. Malicious individuals can mislead victims using copycat names that are similar to but not exactly the same as individuals and charitable organizations. If you are unsure as to whether or not a communication is legitimate, contact the organization directly.

Vehicle Donations

Vehicle Donations are a unique and impactful giving option that helps the Children of Fallen Heroes continue to support veterans, first responders, their families, and many more. Your unwanted car, truck, boat, motorcycle, SUV, or even plane can be accepted as a donation. While we do not accept the vehicles directly, we currently work with Charitable Adult Rides & Services (CARS) to facilitate these donations. Additionally, your generosity qualifies for a tax deduction and CARS will do all the heavy lifting. The pick-up is free, and they’ll schedule it during a time that’s convenient for you. Call 833-GSF-CARS (833-473-2277) now or visit C.A.R.S. to get started!

Volunteer Opportunities

Offering a variety of volunteer opportunities is one way to ensure that employees or community members find at least one thing in which they’d feel comfortable participating. Has your organization thought about incorporating virtual activities for your remote staff or supporters?

When you think about volunteers, the typical image of a team or community group planting a garden, revitalizing a local park, or painting a lively mural at a school comes to mind. Yet all around the globe, at any given time, thousands (if not millions) of engaged citizens volunteer virtually — using their computers, the Internet, and even their smartphones.

Virtual volunteers can complete short-term or long-term tasks, in whole or in part, typically off-site from the organization or person being assisted. If you’ve got access to a computer, thousands of different volunteer projects and roles are available to you — from your home, the library, a coffee shop, or anywhere with an Internet connection.

Below is a robust resource list categorized by activity, impact area, or beneficiaries. Please note, not all opportunities listed below are affiliated with nonprofit organizations. Some will be great for individuals and others more conducive to corporate groups. Keep in mind, there may be fees associated with opportunities for corporate groups. Descriptions are summarized from the corresponding organization’s website and do not necessarily reflect an endorsement from Children of Fallen Heroes. Sign up for volunteer opportunities.
