50th Commemorative Anniversary Silk Hope NC .png

Welcome to Children of Fallen Heroes, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the children, surviving spouses, and caregivers of fallen heroes.

The photo above features members of the US Army Golden Knights, Silk Hope Fire Department, Chatham County Sheriff's Office, Golden Knight alumni, Children of Fallen Heroes, and surviving family members of the 14 Golden Team members of the Silk Hope NC plane crash in 1973. It is a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by our brave men and women in uniform. The 50th Commemorative Anniversary group photo taken at the site of the plane crash is an important tribute to those who lost their lives on that tragic day, but it is also a celebration of their legacy and the enduring spirit of camaraderie that unites those who serve.

Despite the tragedy that occurred at Silk Hope, the community came together to honor the fallen and support their families. The bonds formed during that difficult time have lasted for decades, and this photo captures that sense of unity and resilience. It is a testament to the power of turning a negative into a positive, of finding hope and inspiration even in the darkest of moments.

By honoring our heroes in this way, we ensure that their memory lives on and that their sacrifices are never forgotten. We also pay tribute to the countless men and women who continue to serve our country and keep us safe. This photo is a powerful reminder of the debt of gratitude we owe to those who serve and of the enduring strength and courage of the human spirit.
